Mike Hughes is a versatile instrumentalist specializing in vibraphone and percussion. He is a regular sideman for many of the best jazz players in the north west and UK and counts amongst his collaborators sax supremos Liam Byrne, Frank Griffith, Phil Shotton, Ged Barry and Alex Clarke, together with Eleanor Kelly (guitar), Cliff Ray (trumpet) Duncan Winsfield (trombone) Dave Lynane (bass) and Richard Wetherall (piano).

As a recording artist, Mike has featured on a number of albums, most recently on Neverbody’s debut album ‘Self Talk’ which is due for release on 3 November 2025

Mike plays throughout the UK and is House drummer at the internationally renowned Tallulah’s Emporium alongside Alan Jeffs (guitar) and Tim Pike (bass).

As a musician with a passion for establishing, protecting and improving the music scene Mike curates the listings at Tallulah’s Emporium New Brighton and Arthur’s of Hoylake, the Wirral’s premier jazz venues
